Dear leaders and guests, hello everyone!

My name is Patrick Lee, and I am the cofounder of Loughborough Alumni China. I am honored to be invited to attend today’s National Day gathering.

On behalf of the Alumni Association, I would like to congratulate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and wish the motherland prosperity and its people peace and contentment in their lives and work!

Looking back at modern Chinese history, we can see that the prosperous and convenient living environment we enjoy today in mainland China is all due to the selfless dedication and struggle of generations of our ancestors.

As Chinese overseas scholars, we not only understand the essence of domestic culture but also learn about foreign cultures and systems. We are keen to participate in the construction and development of our motherland and pass on our experience to the public, especially the younger generations.

My own involvement with the UK university alumni association stems from my belief in the power of these organizations. The alumni association can continue the study abroad experience and expand the platform for future career development for international students. Furthermore, China has a huge population of overseas returnees and has great development potential.

As we all know, our country has highly efficient transportation and communication infrastructure. This means that products and resources in remote rural areas can be easily sold to domestic big cities and even overseas markets, successfully making people in remote rural areas wealthy.

Similarly, the alumni association is like the infrastructure of interpersonal communication. It can help alumni socialize and empower themselves. It can also accelerate personal learning and career development. In addition, the alumni association is like a safe haven where alumni find guidance and communication within the alumni group.

The overseas alumni group in the Greater Bay Area, China, has been well developed, with online social groups and frequent gatherings. Alumni are welcome to contact alumni association representatives to jointly build the alumni association and contribute to building a better China!

Thank you all!
